To gild with gold leaf, you must use a special glue for gold leaf. Coat with water-based varnish or shellac (before applying other varnishes, it is advisable to make a layer of shellac). Super-gloss gold leaf does not contain copper, so it does not oxidize - the varnish is applied only to protect against mechanical damage. Each sheet of gold leaf is placed in a separate book, which simplifies the process of cutting the sheet (it is convenient to cut with scissors). Smooth sheet edges. Sheets of super-glossy gold leaf, unlike ordinary gold leaf, have a higher intrinsic shine, and the sheet is more rigid. This makes it possible to achieve high gloss gold plating even with poor surface preparation. The relative “hardness” of mirror gold leaf still does not complicate the process of gluing the sheet - the tack of any glue for gold leaf is sufficient.
